Filter Unit Rockbags

Most commonly known in the UK as Rockbags, Ridgeway supply Japanese company Kyowa’s Filter Units. They are a simple versatile product constructed of mesh net and filled with rocks, used for preventing flood and bridge scour, and protecting offshore cables and pipelines. The Rockbags are easy and cost effective to both fill and install in routine or emergency situations. They blend into the natural environment by allowing plants and marine life to live within the interstices inside the units.

We have developed our brand new website (www.rockbags.com) to showcase how effective and innovative our Kyowa Filter Unit Rockbags have been across the UK and Ireland.

Kyowa Filter Unit Rockbags were developed and first used in 1987 to protect the foundations of the great Akashi bridge. For more than 25 years they have been widely used in civil engineering for rivers, bridges and port work applications.

They are produced by placing an empty net into a production frame and filling it with natural stone or quarried rock. The Rockbag is then drawn together at the top and the 6 hanging ropes are bound onto the one point lifting ring according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
